The Piraeus makerspace team selected our business plan and the social change that we seek\u00a0under the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/pop-machina\/\" data-attribute-index=\"2\" data-entity-hovercard-id=\"urn:li:fs_miniCompany:40790894\" data-entity-type=\"MINI_COMPANY\">Pop-Machina<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=horizoneurope2020&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6934859170613497857\" data-attribute-index=\"4\">#horizoneurope2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The program provides targeted support for repair, reuse, and construction projects that pursue the formation of a much more sustainable city.<br \/>\nWe look forward to creating, learning, and especially connecting with local actors and funders to implement our goals!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pop-Machina is a Horizon 2020 project that seeks to highlight and reinforce the links between the maker movement and circular economy in order to promote environmental sustainability and generate socio-economic benefits in European cities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Circular economy<\/strong> is a promising alternative to existing linear production and consumption patterns that generate enormous waste and have a huge negative impact on the environment overall. Circular use of material, through for example recycling and reusing, can reduce the generation of waste as well as our dependence on extraction or import of raw materials. It has the potential to bring about significant environmental and economic benefits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maker movement<\/strong> brings together individuals engaged in do-it-yourself (DIY) activities, sparking communities worldwide. These communities typically create products from waste materials or re-assembly products that are discarded, broken or unused. The movement has grown rapidly in recent decades, benefitting from the expansion of open workshops (makerspaces), the increase of availability and affordability of digital fabrication tools such as 3D printers and laser cutters, and the prosumer trend in general.<\/p>\n<p>Maker movement is one of the most promising agents for driving the transition of cities to a more circular economy model and so holds great potential for urban regeneration, improved sustainability, social welfare and cohesion.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more here: <a href=\"https:\/\/pop-machina.eu\/\">https:\/\/pop-machina.eu\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are feeling overjoyed and hopeful that our ideas and efforts have been acknowledged.
