The environmental organization WAMBO CITY WASTE PICKERS invites photographers and amateurs to the photography contest it organizes, from April 1 to May 31, 2022, on the topic of environmental degradation and social inequalities, with an emphasis on waste management.
The photographs seek to depict the degradation of the natural and urban landscape – air, soil, water – and its connection to contemporary social problems such as the economic recession and the energy crisis.
The purpose of the competition is to highlight the problem of waste management in Greece, environmental pollution, and how they are related to the quality of life in the country.
The competition is held with the support of the 7n8th photography school (7n8.gr). The selection of photos will be done with the help of the therapeutic photography organization Eyes of Light (eyesoflight.gr). Communication sponsor of the competition is the news site Enallaktikos.gr.
The process will be completed on May 31, 2022 with the highlighting of the 3 winners who will be able to better capture the theme of the competition in their photos. The announcement of the winners will be made by June 30, 2022. The photos will be posted on the WAMBO page, wastepickers.eu.
With the criterion of strengthening and disseminating reuse and repair, the prizes will come from the stores of All repair (allrepair.gr), which specializes in the repair of electronic equipment and are provided to be in a selection of photos: (1) one fully functional laptop (2) repaired electronic projection equipment (TV or monitor) (3) device repair gift card.
